Tips for Freshmen

Close to finishing my first year of high school, I've learned many things throughout that year becoming an experienced freshmen. As time passes by quickly, I would probably know that i would become a sophomore which would more challenging for me. I'm willing share with new freshmen what I experienced and what I learned from being a freshmen.

At beginnings it would be very hard but when you get use to your school it may become easier for the new freshmen. It is a chance to start over, meet new people, making new friends, and learning new things. As you go along, you also have to take your first year seriously otherwise you won't be enrolled to a college where you want to be. Pay attention, study well and do your best! But don't do to much or you might get stressed out, just relax do things early so you won't panic. Speaking of education, teachers are friendly and do help students who cares about their education and do improves through out the year. I suggest that you should ask questions during a class and be open to ideas. Just put some effort and do your best.

In addition, there are lot things to learn here in Saipan Southern High School. Here are some elective classes that you freshmen may be interested:
  1. Art class (1, 2, 3)
  2. Band classes (beginner, intermediate, advanced)
  3. Computer Applications
  4. Computer Electronics (1, 2, 3)
  5. JROTC (1, 2, 3, 4)
  6. Ceramics (1,2)
  7. Health Occupations (1, 2)

There are many different kinds of classes that you make like and might not like but it for the best. If you are bored not knowing what to do in school wanting to do something fun? Well there are many clubs in SSHS that you might want to join. I can't name all the clubs, but I know some: art club, yearbook club, NHS (National Honor Society) and many more. So its fun to learn more things, meet more people and enjoy at the same time. Not only that, there are lots of events to watch and enjoy. I could name some: Stomp the South, Culture day, Spirit week and many more, depending on the holidays, month, or other things.

It sounds like you can do anything here at SSHS, there are many rules that you may have to follow. The person who watches out for students is Mr. Indilecio. He disciplines students and watches the campus from students skipping and doing bad things. If your a student who does not do good in school and want to come to SSHS, you may have to rethink that and stop slacking and start working or you might get suspended, get detention, or even expelled. If your a student who is more competitive and who cares more about their education then SSHS the right school.

There are much things for you freshmen to learn. You might make mistakes and learn from them as you are experiencing the life as a freshmen. Just be your self, don't be shy, study well and try your best. Good Luck on your first year of high school!
